NOP 383 F - Brian

Brian (named after the snail of the same name) is a 1968 RHD 2.25 Diesel dropside IIB. He was exported to Cypress early in his life, and has, as a consequence hasn’t suffered any of the usual rot problems common in UK Land Rovers.

He was imported back into the UK several years ago by John Craddock Ltd, and being too big to fit into an ISO container, made the journey back home on the deck of the ship he was travelling on.

Upon his return home he was advertised for sale, and purchased by Ian Rumsey, joining the ever growing collection of Land Rovers he shares with his brother Mark.

Brain was cleaned up, Given a new set of tyres, and put to work. One of the things that the brothers realised was that Brian had at some point been fitted with a standard Series III steering box, as opposed to the extended low ratio one fitted to the IIB by the factory. Fortunately a proper Forward control steering box was found, and fitted.

Brain can often be found at Series 2 Club events over the summer, along with Ian’s other Forward Control, Snow White. He is also the traditional meeting point for Series 2 Club members at the Old Sodbury Sortouts.
