Hi,

I own 2B FC 2.25 Diesel number 8, I bought it from Dundee where I had seen in in a yard next to where I used to work. It was in very poor condition having been off the road for a good few years. I had to strap the axles together to winch it onto my trailer in case it fell in half. It had been formerly used as a breakdown by a garage on the A9 Perth-Inverness road so many years of salted winter roads has destroyed the chassis

The chassis was clearly well beyond saving so I started a fruitless search for a replacement, Richards were not particularly interested in doing a 1 off but Tony Arnold of LR Fasteners came up trumps with a copy of the original factory drawings for both the chassis and body subframe. I decided to use this as a basis to fabricate my own chassis so I bought myself 3 sheets of 3mm steel and a plasma cutter. The chassis and bodyframe took 3 weeks of fairly solid toil but the results were well worth it, this all went for galvanising along with the repaired bulkhead, wheels and many other brackets and bits that were originally just painted.

The running gear was all stripped and rebuilt along with the original engine.
and all refitted. I am currently midway through the body but the arrival of 2 children in the meantime has slowed things up slightly!

I have done quite a bit of digging sourcing parts for the 2B so I have a pretty good idea of whats available where, it's surprising how much Blanchards, Craddocks and Dunsfold still stock for example. Tony Arnold and Mark & Ian Rumsey have also been very helpful pointing me in the right direction.
